Biography
Sarah Tufts was a daughter of Capt. Peter Tufts of Medford by his second wife, Mercy Cotton. Through her mother she was a great-granddaughter of Gov. Simon Bradstreet and the poet Anne Bradstreet (Brooks, p. 544). She was still single when her father made his will in 1719, which named “daus. … Sarah Tufts” among his legatees and left her brothers land at Quaboag, the later Brookfield (Wyman, p. 958). She married a Brookfield man and spent the rest of her long life there.
“Sarah, b. 13 May, 1702; m. 9 Dec., 1723, Job, son of Samuel and Sarah (Pope) Hinckley, who was b. 16 Feb., 1687-8, at Brookfield, and there d. 4 July, 1753. She d. 4 Sept., 1784.”
